The ASNMU (student government) elections are quickly coming up this April! If you are interested in running for a position on the student government, please review the Election Packet via the attached link for more information and all the required forms. 

Intent to Run forms (found in the elections packet) are due to the ASNMU Office (1203 University Center, or asnmu@nmu.edu) by March 22nd at 5pm.

The Internal Campaign Planning Committee members have been pleased with the creative and collaborative thinking that has been happening on campus thus far, and we look forward to seeing what kinds of opportunities will be submitted for shaping the next comprehensive fund raising campaign at NMU.

Have you thought of your “BIG IDEA” for donor investment at NMU yet?  Have you submitted it for consideration?  The BIG IDEA submission period is closing soon - at the end of the day, March 31, 2019.  To submit an idea please go to nmu.edu/bigidea.

Call for Abstracts - Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship

Calling for abstracts for the 24th Annual Celebration of Student Scholarship to be held on Thursday, April 11. Deadline for abstracts is Wednesday, March 27 at 5 p.m. 

Who should participate? 

Any undergrad or graduate student who has conducted research or undertaken a scholarly creative endeavor under guidance of faculty. 

How can I participate? 

  • Present a poster
  • Give a 10 minute talk on your work.
  • Display art in the Jamrich Lobby (contact event organizers for details and questions.)
  • submit an essay of 10 pages or less. (more about essay competition at event webpage.) 

How do I submit an abstract? 

Submit abstract of 250 words or less to form at www.nmu.edu/studentcelebration by 5 p.m. on 3/27. Full abstract guidelines available on the event webpage. 

Support your classmates and friends by attending talks and posters. Awards ceremony at 9am in Jamrich 1320 includes light breakfast. Free and open to the public.

The Career Services office has a great tool for posting jobs/internships, signing up for job fairs, and much more!  Handshake is our all-in-one web system for students, faculty, staff, employers, and alumni.  We currently have over 9,600 employers in Handshake and that’s steadily growing! On average, our office approves 30 new employers (from all over the world) and 100 jobs (full-time, part-time, summer jobs and internships) into Handshake each day!

With Handshake, you can:

  • Post on-campus jobs and internships (including Graduate Assistantships)
  • Manage and receive applications online
  • Register online for job fairs
  • Search for available jobs with your students
